The benevolent God who allows us disasters and trials (재난과 시험을 허락하시는 좋으신 하나님) - 1Cor. 10:13, 2 Cron. 7:12-16, Ps. 50:15, Rom. 5:3,4.(고전 10:13, 대하 7:12-16, 시 50:15, 롬 5:3,4 ) /Nam YangJu Ammi Mission Church

It is so good for me to come back here again today to meet my dear friends from many different foreign countries and to worship God together with you. I have come here 14 times during the past 10 years since 2010. Today on January third of 2021 I came here 15th time and I am going to deliver a message entitled as “The benevolent God who allows us disasters and trials.” Pastor Gloria (Young Ae) Kim wanted me to deliver a message about “disasters and trials.”

오늘 여기 다시 와서 여러 나라들에서 오신 사랑하는 친구들을 만나게 되어서 그리고 여러분들과 함께 하나님께 예배 드리게 되어서 아주 좋습니다. 제가 2010년부터 지난10년 동안 여기 14번 왔습니다. 오늘 2021년 1월 1일 주일 여기 15번째로 와서 “재난과 시험을 허락하시는 좋으신 하나님” 이라는 제목으로 설교를 하려고 합니다. 김영애 선교사님이 “재난과 시험”에 대한 설교를 하면 좋겠다고 말을 했습니다.

Now almost all kinds of peoples in the world are facing disasters and trials of Corona Viruses and are suffering much. In fact there were various kinds of disasters and trials in the past in most places of the world. The various kinds of disasters and trials were not accidentally happened but happened through the providence of the benevolent God. The various kinds of disasters and trials happened to teach and help the sinful peoples to repent and to live good lives pleasing God.

지금 이 세상의 거의 모든 사람들이 코로나 바이러스로 인한 재난과 시험을 당하면서 많은 고통을 당하고 있습니다. 사실 지난 과거에도 이 세상 곳곳에   여러 종류의 재난과 시험이 일어났습니다. 여러 종류의 재난과 시험이 우연이 일어난 것이 아니고 인자하신 하나님의 섭리 가운데서 일어난 것이었습니다. 여러 종류의 재난과 시험이 죄인들을 가르치고 도와서 회개하고 하나님을 기쁘시기 하는 올바른 삶을 살게 하시려는 하나님의 선하신 섭리 가운에서 일어난 재난과 시험이었습니다.

In the Old Testament times God the father arranged to happen disasters and trials 7 times during the period of Judges and later arranged to happen extremely severe disasters and trials of living slavery lives in Babylon for 70 years. After all the Israel people repented and began to live upright lives of faith. The Bible pointed out the usefulness of disasters and trials as the following. “Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.”(Deut. 8:2). “By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.”(Ps. 137:1). “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.”(Ps. 119:71). “Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.”(Ps. 119:67). “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”(Ps. 50:15).

구약시대에 성부 하나님께서는 사사 시대에 7번 재난과 시험을 당하게 하셨고 나중에는 70년 동안 바벨론에서 포로 생활을 하는 극심한 재난과 시험을 당하게 하셨습니다. 결국 이스라엘 백성은 회개하게 되었고 올바른 삶을 살게 되었습니다. 그래서 성경 말씀들은 재난과 시험의 유익을 이렇게 지적하고 있습니다. “네 하나님 여호와께서 이 사십 년 동안에 너로 광야의 길을 걷게 하신 것을 기억하라 이는 너를 낮추시며 너를 시험하사 네 마음이 어떠한지 그 명령을 지키는지 아니 지키는지 알려 하심이라.”(신 8:2). “우리가 바벨론의 여러 강변 거기 앉아서 시온을 기억하며 울었도다.”(시 137:1). “고난 당한 것이 내게 유익이라 이로 인하여 내가 주의 율례를 배우게 되었나이다.”(시 119:71). “고난 당하기 전에는 내가 그릇 행하였더니 이제는 주의 말씀을 지키나이다.”(시 119:67). “환난 날에 나를 부르라 내가 너를 건지리니 네가 나를 영화롭게 하리로다.”(시 50:15).

I think that the Korean churches became a little bit more and more suitable churches through the disasters and trials under the 36 years Japanese severe control and persecutions and through the disasters and trials of the 6.25 war between the North and South Korea in 1950. The Korean churches began to repent severely, began to worship God sincerely on Sundays, began to concentrate to early morning prayers, began to love and serve neighbors as well as enemies, and began to dedicate lives as sacrifices of martyrdom. The providence of God is always benevolent and valuable

사실 조선교회가 일본 통치하에서 36년 동안 재난과 시험을 당하므로 조금씩 조금씩 교회다운 귀중한 교회로 탈바꿈하게 되었고, 한국교회가 1950년 6.25 전쟁의 재난과 시험을 당하므로 조금씩 조금씩 교회다운 귀중한 교회로 탈바꿈하게 되었다고 생각합니다. “회개”를 아주 많이 하게 되었고, “주일성수의 예배”와 “새벽기도”에 전력하게 되었고, 이웃 “사랑과 섬김”은 물론 원수 “사랑과 섬김”에 전력을 다하게 되었고, 그리고 수 많은 “순교”의 제물들을 배출하게 되었다고 생각합니다. 하나님의 섭리는 언제나 선하시고 귀중하십니다.

Now we are going to look into the teachings of the 2 Cron. 7:12-16. God the father appeared to Solomon and told him as the following. “The LORD appeared to him at night and said: I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.”(2 Cron. 7:12-16).

오늘 대하 7장 본문 말씀의 가르침을 먼저 살펴보려고 합니다. 성부 하나님께서 솔로몬에게 나타나서 다음과 같이 말씀하셨습니다. “밤에 여호와께서 솔로몬에게 나타나사 이르시되 내가 이미 네 기도를 듣고 이곳을 택하여 내게 제사하는 전을 삼았으니 혹 내가 하늘을 닫고 비를 내리지 아니하거나 혹 메뚜기로 토산을 먹게 하거나 혹 염병으로 내 백성 가운데 유행하게 할 때에 내 이름으로 일컫는 내 백성이 그 악한 길에서 떠나 스스로 겸비하고 기도하여 내 얼굴을 구하면 내가 하늘에서 듣고 그 죄를 사하고 그 땅을 고칠찌라 이곳에서 하는 기도에 내가 눈을 들고 귀를 기울이리니 이는 내가 이미 이 전을 택하고 거룩하게 하여 내 이름으로 여기 영영히 있게 하였음이라 내 눈과 내 마음이 항상 여기 있으리라.”(대하 7:12-16).

The first teaching of 2 Cron. 7:12-16 is that all kinds of disasters and trials are not accidentally happening but happening through the providence of the benevolent God. Such statements as “when I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people” indicate that God arranged disasters and trials.

대하 7장 말씀이 가르치는 첫째 교훈은 모든 종류의 재난과 시험들이 우연히 일어나는 일들이 아니고 성부 하나님의 “선하신 섭리” 가운데서 일어나는 일들이라는 교훈입니다. “혹 내가 하늘을 닫고 비를 내리지 아니하거나 혹 메뚜기로 토산을 먹게 하거나 혹 염병으로 내 백성 가운데 유행하게 할 때에” 라는 말씀은 하나님께서 재난과 시험이 일어나도록 하셨다는 말씀입니다.

The second teaching of 2 Cron. 7:12-16 is that the purpose of God’s arranging disasters and trials is making the people humble and repent. Such statements as “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways” indicate that God’s willing purpose is making the people humble and repent. When the people of God do not live right life of faith they become arrogant and evil. When they experience disasters and trials, they become to be humble and repent.

대하 7장 말씀이 가르치는 둘째 교훈은 하나님께서 재난과 시험을 주시는 목적은 자기 백성이 스스로 “겸비”하게 되고 악한 길에서 떠나 “회개”하게 되기를 하시기 위함이라는 교훈입니다. “내 이름으로 일컫는 내 백성이 그 악한 길에서 떠나 스스로 겸비하고.” 하나님의 백성이 신앙생활을 제대로 하지 못하게 될 때 교만하게 되고 이기적이게 되고 악하게 되기가 너무 쉽습니다. 그래서 재난과 시험을 당하면 “회개”하면서 “겸비”하게 된다고 말씀하셨습니다.

The third teaching of 2 Cron. 7:12-16 is that the purpose of God’s arranging disasters and trials is making his people to pray and to seek the face of God. When the people of God do not live the right life of faith they become arrogant and seeking worldly things such as political economical and medical fashions instead of seeking the face of God. It is so much important for us to seek the face of God and try to find out God pleasing things such as sincere repentance, whole heartily worship service, and love and service towards all kinds of peoples.

대하 7장 말씀이 가르치는 셋째 교훈은 하나님께서 재난과 시험을 주시는 목적은 자기 백성이 스스로 겸비해져서 기도하면서 “하나님의 얼굴”을 구하게 하시기 위함이라는 교훈입니다. 하나님의 백성들이 신앙생활을 제대로 하지 못하게 될 때 교만해져서 하나님의 얼굴대신 세상의 정치 경제 의학 유행에 관심을 기울이게 된다고 생각합니다. 우리 신자들이 스스로 겸비해져서 하나님의 얼굴을 구하는 것이 즉 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 것이 무엇인지를 알아내는 것이 너무너무 귀중하다고 생각합니다. 우리들이 하나님의 얼굴을 구하면서 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 일들이 무엇인지를 즉 진실한 회개와 정성껏 드리는 예배와 모든 사람들에게 베푸는 사랑과 섬김이라는 사실을 깨닫는 것이 아주 귀중하다고 생각합니다.

What are the things which God is most pleased to receive from us? Firstly the sacrifice of sincere “repentance” is that which God is most pleased to receive. It is because all kinds of human being since Adam are sinners full of all kinds of sins. David in the Old Testament times confessed that the pleasing and delighting sacrifices of God were not burnt offerings but a broken and contrite heart of repentances. “You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”(Ps. 51:16,17).

하나님께서 우리들로부터 받으시기를 가장 기뻐하시는 것이 무엇입니까? 제일 먼저 처절한 “회개”의 제사를 받으시는 것이라고 생각합니다. 아담 이후의 모든 인간들은 모두 죄악으로 가득한 죄인들이기 때문입니다. 구약시대의 다윗은 하나님께서 즐겨하시고 기뻐하시는 것은 번제가 아니고 상하고 통회하는 회개의 제사라고 고백을 했습니다. “주는 제사를 즐겨 아니하시나니 그렇지 않으면 내가 드렸을 것이라 주는 번제를 기뻐 아니하시나이다 하나님의 구하시는 제사는 상한 심령이라 하나님이여 상하고 통회하는 마음을 주께서 멸시치 아니하시리이다.”(시 51:16.17).

After all David lived all of his life the lives of severe repentances. “I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.”(Ps. 6:6). “Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear.”(Ps. 38:3,4). “Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.”(Ps. 51:2-5).

결국 다윗은 평생토록 처절한 회개의 삶을 살게 되었습니다. “내가 탄식함으로 곤핍하여 밤마다 눈물로 내 침상을 띄우며 내 요를 적시나이다.”(시 6:6). “주의 진노로 인하여 내 살에 성한 곳이 없사오며 나의 죄로 인하여 내 뼈에 평안함이 없나이다 내 죄악이 내 머리에 넘쳐서 무거운 짐 같으니 감당할 수 없나이다.”(시 38:3,4). “나의 죄악을 말갛게 씻기시며 나의 죄를 깨끗이 제하소서 대저 나는 내 죄과를 아오니 내 죄가 항상 내 앞에 있나이다 내가 주께만 범죄하여 주의 목전에 악을 행하였사오니 주께서 말씀하실 때에 의로우시다 하고 판단하실 때에 순전하시다 하리이다 내가 죄악 중에 출생하였음이여 모친이 죄 중에 나를 잉태하였나이다.”(시 51:2-5).

Jesus the son of God came to the world and delivered the first message as to “repent and believe.” “Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. The time has come, he said. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”(Mark 1:14,15). Even after resurrection and ascension Jesus the son of God delivered messages to the five churches in Asia as to “repent” “repent” “repent” “repent” “repent.” Christianity is the religion of “repentance.” The lives of Christians begin with the lives of “repentance” continue with lives of “repentance” and end with the lives of “repentance.”

성자 예수님께서 세상에 오셔서 제일 먼저 전파하신 말씀이 “회개하고 믿으라” 라는 말씀이었습니다. “예수께서 갈릴리에 오셔서 하나님의 복음을 전파하여 가라사대 때가 찼고 하나님 나라가 가까왔으니 회개하고 복음을 믿으라 하시더라.”(막 1:14,15). 부활 승천하신 다음에 성자 예수님께서 아시아의 5 교회에 메시지를 보내시면서 “회개하라” “회개하라” “회개하라” “회개하라” “회개하라” 라고 반복하셨습니다. 우리 그리스도인들의 삶은 “회개”의 삶으로 시작하고 “회개”의 삶으로 지속되고 “회개”의 삶으로 마무리 됩니다.

The lives of the apostle Paul were full of genuine repentances. “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?”(Rom. 7:18.19, 24). “When we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.”(1 Cor. 4:13). “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.”(1 Tim. 1:15).

사도 바울의 삶은 처절한 회개로 충만했습니다. “내 속 곧 내 육신에 선한 것이 거하지 아니하는 줄을 아노니 원함은 내게 있으나 선을 행하는 것은 없노라 내가 원하는 바 선은 하지 아니하고 도리어 원치 아니하는 바 악은 행하는도다 오호라 나는 곤고한 사람이로다 이 사망의 몸에서 누가 나를 건져 내랴”(롬 7:18,19,24). “우리가 지금까지 세상의 더러운 것과 만물의 찌끼(scum of the earth) 같이 되었도다”(고전 4:13). “미쁘다 모든 사람이 받을만한 이 말이여 그리스도 예수께서 죄인을 구원하시려고 세상에 임하셨다 하였도다 죄인 중에 내가 괴수니라”(딤전 1:15).

The Rev. Ann Graham Lotz the daughter of Dr. Billy Graham stressed that the United States of America which is suffering with disasters and trials should concentrate upon repentance as the following. “The real method of solution is that we surrender, kneel down with humble heart, pray, seeking the face of God, and repent. We should return to God again and ask sincerely God’s caring us again.”

빌리 그래함 박사님의 딸 안 그래함 롯츠 목사님은 재난과 시험을 당하고 있는 미국이 회개에 집중하여야 한다고 강조하면서 다음과 같은 말씀을 했습니다. “진정한 해결 방법은, 우리들이 겸손한 마음으로 무릎 꿇고 기도하며, 하나님의 얼굴을 구하고, 우리들의 죄를 회개하는 것입니다. 우리들이 하나님께로 다시 돌아감으로 하나님께서 다시 우리들을 돌아보시기를 간청해야 합니다.”

What are the things which God is most pleased to receive from us? Secondly the sacrifice of the sincere “worship” of “Sunday observance” is that which God is most pleased to receive. The apostle Paul declared the truth as the following. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.”(Rom. 12:1). The “worship” of “Sunday observance” is the most important thing which the saved believers should try to practice and which God is most pleased to receive from us.

하나님께서 우리들로부터 받으시기를 가장 기뻐하시는 것이 무엇입니까? 둘째로 하나님께서 우리들로부터 받으시기를 가장 기뻐하시는 것이 “주일 성수”의 “예배의 제사” 입니다. 사도 바울이 그 진리를 다음과 같이 선언했습니다. “그러므로 형제들아 내가 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희를 권하노니 너희 몸을 하나님이 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제사로 드리라 이는 너희의 드릴 영적 예배니라”(롬 12:1). “주일 성수”의 “예배의 제사” 그것이 구원함을 받은 성도들이 힘써야 할 가장 중요한 일이고 그것이 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 가장 중요한 일이라고 지적했습니다.

God the Father repeated to say the important truth of worshipping God to Moses long time ago. God told to Moses that the real purpose of saving the Israel peoples from Egypt was not living free and wealthy lives in the place of Canaan but living the lives of worshipping God faithfully. “Then the LORD said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh and say to him, This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.”(Ex. 8:1). God repeated to say 10 times from Ex. chapter 4 to chapter 10.

예배에 대한 중요한 진리를 성부 하나님께서는 오래 전에 모세에게 여러 번 말씀하셨습니다. 성부 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성을 애굽에서 구원하시는 목적이 가나안 땅에 들어가서 자유롭고 부요하게 사는데 있다고 말씀하시지 않았고 하나님을 정성껏 섬기는데 있다고 거듭해서 말씀하셨습니다. “여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 바로에게 가서 그에게 이르기를 여호와의 말씀에 내 백성을 보내라 그들이 나를 섬길 것이니라”(출 8:1). 하나님께서 이와 같은 말씀을 출애굽기 4장부터 10장까지 10번이나 계속해서 말씀하셨습니다.

The right way of worshipping was observing the Sabbath holy in the Old Testament times and observing Sunday holy in the New Testament times. Jesus the son of God said as the following. “For the son of man is lord of the Sabbath.” Jesus the Son of God stressed that He was the accomplisher of the system of observing Sabbath in the Old Testament. Jesus the son of God resurrected on Sunday and repeated to appear on Sundays and thus created the system of Sunday observance. The apostle Paul practiced the system of Sunday observance(Acts. 20:7).

올바른 “예배”의 방식은 구약시대에는 “안식일성수” 였고 신약시대에는 “주일성수” 였습니다. 성자 예수님께서는 “인자는 안식일의 주인이니라”(마 12:8) 라는 말씀을 하셨습니다. 성자 예수님께서 구약의 안식일을 완성하신 분이심을 강조하셨습니다. 성자 예수님께서는 안식 후 첫날인 주일 새벽에 부활하셨고 그리고 계속해서 주일날에 나타나셨는데 결국 예수님께서는 주일성수 제도를 창조하셨습니다. 사도 바울은 주일 성수의 제도를 실천했습니다(행 20:7).

The New Testament took a step forward and indicated that the New Testament “Sunday” prefigure the eternal heavenly Sabbath. And the New Testament admonished us that we should do our best to enter into the heavenly Sabbath(Heb. 4:1,11). Worshipping God with observing the Sunday holy is the most precious and beautiful thing for us believers who are saved through the grace of God. The faith of Sunday observance and worshipping God is the central and hearty faith of Christianity.

신약 성경은 한 걸음 더 나아가서 신약의 “주일”은 영원한 “천국의 안식일”과 “천국의 주일”을 예표하는 것이라고 지적했습니다. 그리고 “천국의 안식”에 들어가기를 힘쓰라고 권면했습니다. “그러므로 우리는 두려워할지니 그의 안식에 들어갈 약속이 남아 있을지라도 너희 중에 혹 미치지 못할 자가 있을까 함이라 그러므로 우리가 저 안식에 들어가기를 힘쓸지니 이는 누구든지 저 순종치 아니하는 본에 빠지지 않게 하려 함이라”(히 4:1,11). 하나님의 은혜로 구원함을 받은 우리 신자들에게 있어서 가장 귀중하고 가장 아름다운 일은 “주일성수”를 하면서 하나님께 “예배의 제사”를 드리는 일입니다. “주일성수와 예배”의 신앙은 성경의 중심적인 신앙이고 기독교의 핵심적인 신앙입니다.

What are the things which God is most pleased to receive from us? Thirdly the life of extending hands of “love and help” to the all kinds of poor peoples is that which God is most pleased to receive. God the Father was the kind hearted God who loved and helped orphans, widows and aliens and told us that we should also love and help orphans, widows and aliens. “For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt.”(Deut. 10:17-19).

하나님께서 가장 기뻐하시는 것이 셋째로 불우한 모든 사람들에게 “사랑과 도움”의 손길을 펴면서 사는 삶을 사는 것이라고 생각합니다. 성부 하나님께서는 고아와 과부와 나그네들을 사랑하시고 도우시는 착하신 분이신데 우리들도 고아와 과부와 나그네들을 사랑하고 도우면서 착하게 살라고 말씀하셨습니다. “너희의 하나님 여호와는 신의 신이시며 주의 주시요 크고 능하시며 두려우신 하나님이시라 사람을 외모로 보지 아니하시며 뇌물을 받지 아니하시고 고아와 과부를 위하여 신원하시며 나그네를 사랑하사 그에게 식물과 의복을 주시나니 너희는 나그네를 사랑하라 전에 너희도 애굽 땅에서 나그네 되었었음이니라”(신 10:17-19).

Jesus the son of God said the same and exceeding sayings. Jesus told to love not only neighbors but even enemies. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”(Matt. 5: 43,44). Jesus even said that those who took care of the poor and suffering peoples would go to heaven(Matt. 25:34-36,40,46).

성자 예수님께서도 꼭 같은 아니 좀 지나친 말씀까지 하셨습니다. 이웃은 물론 원수들까지 사랑하라고 말씀하셨습니다. “또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나 나는 너희에게 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 핍박하는 자를 위하여 기도하라.”(마 5:43,44). 예수님께서는 가난과 어려움에 처한 모든 자들을 돌아보는 사람들이 영생에 들어간다는 말씀까지 하셨습니다(마 25:34-36,40,46).

The believers of the early churches in the Acts of the New Testament engaged much in the ministries of extending hands of love and help to the poor and suffering peoples. The believers of the Jerusalem church engaged much in the ministries of extending hands of love and help to the poor and suffering peoples.(Acts. 2:44-47,4:32-37). Dorgas in Joppa engaged much in the ministries of extending hands of love and help to the poor and suffering peoples.(Acts. 9:36-42). Cornelius a centurion in Caesarea engaged much in the ministries of extending hands of love and help to the poor and suffering peoples.(Acts. 10:1-5). Barnavas in Antioch engaged much in the ministries of extending hands of love and help to the poor and suffering peoples.(Acts. 11:24).

신약의 사도행전에 나타나는 초대교회의 신자들은 대부분 가난하고 불우한 사람들에게 “사랑과 도움”의 손길을 펴는 일이었다고 생각합니다. 먼저 예루살렘교회 신자들이 “사랑과 도움과 섬김”의 손길을 펴는 착한 일을 이렇게 기록했습니다. 그 다음에 욥바에 살던 여 신자인 도르가가 “사랑과 도움과 섬김”의 손길을 펴는 착한 일을 이렇게 기록했습니다(행 9:36-42). 그 다음에 가이사랴의 백부장 고넬료가 백성들을 많이 구제함으로 가이사랴의 복음화가 이루어진 일을 이렇게 기록했습니다(행 10:1-5).  그 다음 바나바의 착한 삶과 사역으로 안디옥교회가 부흥 발전한 일을 이렇게 기록했습니다.

The apostle Paul experienced extreme kinds of sufferings in order to engage in the ministries of extending hands of love and help to the many poor and suffering peoples. The apostle Paul stated lengthy lists of sufferings as the following. “Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one……………”(2 Cor. 11:23-27).

사도 바울은 극심한 고난을 당하면서까지 불우한 많은 사람들에게 “사랑과 도움과 섬김”의 손길을 손길을 폈습니다. 사도 바울은 자기가 당한 고난의 리스트를 길게 나열했습니다. “저희가 그리스도의 일군이냐 정신 없는 말을 하거니와 나도 더욱 그러하도다 내가 수고를 넘치도록 하고 옥에 갇히기도 더 많이 하고 매도 수없이 맞고 여러 번 죽을 뻔 하였으니 유대인들에게 사십에 하나 감한 매를 다섯 번 맞았으며………….”(고후 11:23-27).

The apostle Paul even rejoiced sufferings of persecutions and bleeding in order to love and serve the Lord and foreign churches. “Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.”(Col. 1:24). “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me. (빌 2:17,18). The apostle Paul lived the life of offering his body as sacrifices of “love and service” for the Lord and for the many churches and believers in the world and died the death of offering his body as sacrifices of “love and service” for the Lord and for the many churches and believers in the world.

사도 바울은 주님과 이방인 교회들을 사랑으로 섬기면서 핍박을 당하고 피를 흘리는 고난을 기뻐하기까지 했습니다. “내가 이제 너희를 위하여 받는 괴로움을 기뻐하고 그리스도의 남은 고난을 그의 몸된 교회를 위하여 내 육체에 채우노라”(골 1:24). “만일 너희 믿음의 제물과 봉사 위에 내가 나를 관제로 드릴찌라도 나는 기뻐하고 너희 무리와 함께 기뻐하리니 이와 같이 너희도 기뻐하고 나와 함께 기뻐하라”(빌 2:17,18). 사도 바울은 결국 주님을 위해서 그리고 이 땅에 흩어져 있는 모든 교회들과 성도들을 위해서 자기의 몸을 사랑과 섬김의 제물로 드리는 진정한 “사랑과 섬김”의 삶을 살다가 진정한 “사랑과 섬김”의 죽음을 죽었다고 생각합니다.

I am going to conclude the message. Disasters and trials are very difficult and painful to experience. However they happen through the providence of the benevolent God. When we experience disasters and trials we should try to be “humble” and “repent.” When we experience disasters and trials we should try to do our best to “observe Sunday holy” and “worship God faithfully.” When we experience disasters and trials we should try to do our best to extend our hands of "love and service" to our neighbors and all kinds of poor and miserable peoples.

이제 말씀을 마무리합니다. 재난과 시험은 아주 힘들고 어려운 경험입니다. 그러나 자비하신 하나님의 섭리 가운데서 일어나는 것입니다. 재난과 시험을 당하는 우리들이 힘써서 하여야 할 일은 “겸비”하여져서 “회개”하는 일입니다. 재난과 시험을 당하는 우리들이 힘써서 하여야 할 일은 “주일을 성수”하며 “하나님께 정성껏 예배” 드리는 일입니다. 재난과 시험을 당하는 우리들이 힘써서 이웃과 가난하고 불우한 모든 사람들에게 “사랑과 도움과 섬김”의 손길을 펴는 일입니다.

Now I am going to quote two words of the Bible. “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”(Ps. 50:15). “Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”(Rom. 5:3,4).

이제 성경 말씀 두 곳을 인용합니다. “환난 날에 나를 부르라 내가 너를 건지리니 네가 나를 영화롭게 하리로다”(시 50:15). “우리가 환난 중에도 즐거워하나니 이는 환난은 인내를, 인내는 연단을, 연단은 소망을 이루는 줄 앎이로다”(롬 5:3,4). 아멘! 아멘! 아멘!
